In years past, the common filling for a tooth was silver colored. It is now much more common to use fillings that match the natural color of teeth. With the cosmetic dentistry becoming commonplace, we are used to seeing natural, beautiful smiles, instead of teeth that have obviously been worked on by a dentist.

Another advantage is that they are compatible with dental sealants so they can be sealed at the same time as they are applied. The bonding formed by tooth-colored fillings helps to strengthen the tooth.
