Advanced Diagnostics:

How We Discover & Prevent the

Root Causes of Disease

"When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves."

- Anthony J. D'Angelo

Traditional medical and dental schools treat a methodology for disease that includes evaluating subjective and objective data from the patient (a clinical exam), taking additional diagnostic information that would reveal more about this initial information (for example, X-rays, blood tests, etc), and then formulating a differential diagnosis (which is basically a prioritized list of what is most likely causing the conditions at hand) and associated recommended therapies for each of these conditions. More often than not, this linear approach to disease management leads to a focus on reducing or masking symptoms, instead of discovering and fixing the root cause, and oftentimes each disease process is treated separately. So a patient could end up taking multiple medications for various different symptoms that are all caused by the same core issue.

In the words of Taylor Swift, this approach is like putting bandaids over bullet holes.

Disclaimer: we know this is a very serious topic, but we've found that most all things are improved when we maintain our sense of humor ;)

What integrative healthcare does differently is that the doctor evaluates the synergistic nature of symptoms and how multiple diseases can have similar root causes in a patient. By peeling back the proverbial onion of your health, we can supplement, remedy, and heal the core components of your system that are malfunctioning and leading to these symptoms. Not only can this create a more optimal clinical outcome, but this more holistic approach can allow patients to avoid a lifetime of medications and the negative side effects associated with that type of therapy.

So with this philosophy in mind, we use the following diagnostic tools to get a full scope of how our patients are functioning at their core, which allows us to educate and counsel them on best next steps moving forward towards a happier and healthier version of themselves.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)
Multi-layered, 3D analysis of hard & soft tissue of the head & neck
Lab Testing
1) Analysis of hair, urine, & blood for mercury levels
2) Blood test for sensitivity to materials planned to be used
Comprehensive Questionnaires
Understanding the full scope of a patient's health requires knowledge of systemic conditions
Digital Occlusion Scan
Visualize asymmetries & undesired forces on individual teeth in opposing dental arches
Salivary Testing
Identifying bacterial & fungal profile associated with periodontal disease
Joint Vibration Analysis
Electronic recording of TMJ sounds & dynamic movements
Home Sleep Test
Collecting a variety of metrics, but most importantly, # of apneic episodes, O2 desaturation, & heart rate
Digital Radiographs
Minimal radiation exposure with optimal analysis capabilities
